ARCADIA 3.0 is a project that aims to provide new ways to enjoy and manage cultural heritage employing new technologies like the Google Glass. Arcadia allows to live, explore and manage cultural heritage in a totally new way and is thought to work on any devices from smartphones to desktops. An innovative queue management system allows the user to save times and gives the possibility of buying tickets online. Onsite sensors allow to constantly monitor the environment surrounding the attraction avoiding critical situations that could damage or degrade attractions and masterpieces.B-Open’s Role
Inside ARCADIA 3.0 project B-Open designed and developed 2 Android Applications for Google Glasses. The first one is a location-aware multimedia guide which allows the user to listen and watch slideshows describing the visited site/museum with a plus consisting in notifications about what the user is currently watching and what attractions are nearby. The second application allows the keepers/guardians wearing Google Glasses to be notified with alarms generated by onsite sensors. Both the applications are optimized for energy savings and with the aim of improving user experience without obstructing eyesight and hearing from nearby environment.
